The UM offers practicum/fellowship courses in which students are given the opportunity to learn through external organizations, while the BIC will seek to be provide a platform of learning, exchange and capacity-building for these fellow students. In this way, the BIC will constantly offer exclusive placements to UM students in every academic term and will guide each individual to develop their skills for their future career.

The two organizations expressed their intention to cooperate within the scope of their mandates and sphere of competences to work with students and young professionals. Though of an interim nature, this MoU signed between the BIC and UM will permit in-depth academic and research consultations from both sides, improving the level of analysis and investigation.

Mr. Fernando Aguiar, BIC`s Manager of Research & Strategic Adviser on Conflict and Security, stated that “creating synergies with Maastricht University will substantially expand the prospects of developing activities aimed at creating a common platform for dialogue, learning, exploring and mutual understanding.”

The BIC is pleased that such an agreement could have taken place with such a renowned University as the UM, and look forward to continuing to build on a constructive cooperation.
