22 Feb 24
About

With the European Parliament Election around the corner, the Brussels International Center is hosting a roundtable breakfast on the 22th of February where a small group of Brussels-based colleagues will converge to reimagine politics ahead of the EU elections.

Focused on envisioning success for the next EU mandate (2024-2029), the discussion will delve into priorities for European leaders and the importance of collaborations across sectors to addressing important issues, encompassing effective foreign policy, the future of climate action, and the preservation of democracy.

This intimate, informal setting encourages open dialogue and meaningful connections, fostering collaboration across sectors. Participants will exchange insights, offer potential solutions, and collaboratively contribute to discussions on the future of the European Union.

Discussion questions:

• How can the European Union effectively prioritize and implement foreign policy initiatives on conflict resolution and diplomacy in the upcoming mandate (2024-2029) to strengthen its global standing and partnerships?

• In the face of escalating climate challenges, what specific measures should EU leaders prioritize to address environmental concerns and contribute significantly to global sustainability goals?

• How can the European Union uphold and enhance democratic values in the next mandate, considering recent challenges and ensuring inclusive decision-making processes for the diverse voices within its member states?
